Japanese vocabulary and phrases when booking a lesson | Ichiyo’s Japanese Online Lesson

We offer two types of services. One is our “Private Japanese Conversation Lesson” and the other is “Daily Japanese Mail Support.” On this page, we will introduce how to book a lesson in Japanese. Our students can contact Japanese teacher Ichiyo in English when they book his conversation lessons. However, we want you to use Japanese as much as possible.

Vocabulary and phrases used when booking a lesson

※ We do not write「レッスン」in hiragana.

Please ~. : ～をお願ねがいします。 (Polite Form)、～をお願ねがいいたします。 (More Polite)

How is Ichiyo-sensei’s schedule?

「ご予定よてい」 is used when we talk about the schedule of the person we are talking with.

How about ~?/ How is ~?
～はいかがですか。(Polite Form)、～はいかがでしょうか。 (More Polite)

I’m free on these days at the moment.

I’m free on the following days.

Telling dates and time

When we talk about schedules, we often write times using the 24-hour clock format like「 ２０：３０ 」. If you do not know it, please learn it through this page.

Other examples of telling time using the 24-hour clock format:
・６月３日２０：３０から２２：００まで: June 3rd from 8:30 P.M. to 10:00 P.M.
・８月２３日２１時: August 23rd 9 P.M.

Please confirm it.

「よろしくお願いします。」and「よろしくお願いいたします。」mean “Please (something)” in this case.

This phrase is often used in business.

I already had plans for 9 P.M. on the 4th.

We frequently use「では」 in daily conversations. It is often difficult to translate it into exact English.

Example chats when our members book a lesson

I did not write「振ふり仮名がな」in the examples. This is because Japanese people seldom write it when we chat. Moreover, it becomes difficult to copy and paste these sentences if「振り仮名」are written. If you are our student, please use these sentences when you book our lessons. By the way,「振り仮名」is the kanji reading aid. If you cannot read kanji characters, please learn them again in the vocabulary section.

About “How is Ichiyo-sensei’s schedule?”:
The student used the word「一陽いちよう先生せんせい (Ichiyo-sensei)」instead of「あなた (you)」. This is because using「あなた (you)」becomes a bit rude for him in this case.
