Literal Translation: When I buy bananas, I choose ones that are a little blue.
Plain Form:
バナナを買う時は、少し青いものを選ぶ。
Banana o kau toki wa, sukoshi aoi mono o erabu.
「青」means “blue” and「緑」means “green.” In this case, we say「青い」, not「緑」. Therefore, the natural English translation is “When I buy bananas, I choose ones that are a little green.” By the way,「青い」is an adjective.
Polite Form:
バナナを買う時は、少し青いものを選びます。
Banana o kau toki wa, sukoshi aoi mono o erabimasu.
